Brandon Browner is apparently done in New Orleans, but will he be a target for the Jaguars?

In an unsurprising turn of events, Brandon Browner, the former stand out cornerback, and Super Bowl Champion has apparently parted ways with the New Orleans Saints. He had this to say on twitter:

Despite his well wishes for the Saints organization and the city of New Orleans, Browner was pretty awful while wearing the black and gold. His Pro Football Focus rating last season wasn't even good enough to rank him in the top 100 for cornerbacks. He recorded 10 passes defended, one interception, and according to CBS Sports:

"
Browner set an NFL record for penalties in 2015, and things got so ugly by the end of the season that he was booed in pregame introductions before the home finale."
Many fans will remember Browner as an original member of the Legion of Boom in Seattle. Playing opposite Richard Sherman, Browner was once thought of as one of the very best cornerbacks in football -- but that was then and this is now. He should now be thought of as the cornerback who, in 2015, gave up the longest play in Jaguars history to Allen Robinson. Browner hasn't recorded more than 1 interception in three straight seasons and is clearly a player who has hit rock bottom. He is now 31 and has lost a step or two, which is a career killer for a corner back who wasn't fast in the first place.

So would Gus Bradley be interested in reuniting with his one time star? Probably not, and definitely not as a starter. Bradley has harped on the fact that the Jaguars need to be more disciplined and adding a player in Browner that just set an NFL record for penalties in a season, doesn't exactly mesh with the idea of becoming a more disciplined team. However, Browner does know Gus Bradley's scheme very well and could provide depth in the secondary and a knowledge base for the Jaguars young defensive backs.

Despite Browner's former success and his understanding of Bradley's defense I find it highly unlikely that you will see Brandon Browner in black and teal next year. At this point in his career he isn't worth even a moderately priced contract, and certainly wouldn't be a linchpin in the Jaguars secondary. If Browner is added to the mix for the Jags, look for it to be a non guaranteed deal that is close to the veteran minimum. But, let's face it, he probably isn't coming to Duval.
