Blake Bortles has been the best QB in the NFL during the month of December.
I'll repeat. Blake Bortles has been the best QB in the NFL during the month of December. All he's done is lead the Jaguars to a 3-0 record, throw for an average of over 300 yards per game, toss seven touchdowns to no interceptions, and lead the NFL is passer rating. Bortles has been nearly perfect during the final month of the 2017 regular season. His strong play is likely to continue when the Jaguars take on the 49ers this Sunday. The 49ers have won three straight games, but their pass defense has been far from impressive. Mitchell Trubisky, TJ Yates, and Marcus Mariota all posted QB ratings of over 100 during that stretch. The 49ers pass defense has picked off just seven passes this season and their pass rush ranks near the bottom on the league with only 26 sacks so far in 2017. Bortles shouldn't face a ton of pressure and isn't facing a ball hawking secondary. With a healthy Jaguars offensive line and the likely return of Allen Hurns, the Jaguars most consistent wide receiver, and the return of Leonard Fournette, Blake Bortles should have plenty of help around him. Marqise Lee may not be able to play, but the emergence of Keelan Cole, Dede Westbrook, and Jaydon Mickens should mitigate the negative effect if Lee is unavailable.
