Yep, that's right.
Blake Bortles is entering a contest in which he should be able to find success early and often.
He's riding a mini hot streak. Since his benching against the Texans in week seven Bortles has not thrown a single interception. In the two games since then he's averaged 303 yards passing per game, has thrown 3 TD passes, and has completed 63% of his passes.
Yes, the same Blake Bortles who did NOTHING for three straight weeks against the Chiefs, Cowboys, and Texans, has seemingly found his stride. The return of Leonard Fournette greatly helped BB5's cause in week 10 against the Colts and — assuming Fournette stays healthy — will continue to do so throughout the rest of the season.
The Steelers, who have been blisteringly hot lately with five straight wins, haven't been great against the pass. No one in the secondary or linebacker group really strikes fear into the hearts of opposing offenses. Now, they do have one of the better pass rushes in football, with 31 sacks on the season. But the Jaguars offensive line has been decent this season — at least in pass protection — and surrendered ZERO sacks in week 10.
A secondary comprised of mostly journeyman, outside of safety Morgan Burnett, has surrendered 19 TD passes to just six interceptions this season and has allowed over 245 yards passing per game in 2018. This is a group that's ripe for the taking.
Blake Bortles last performance at home was forgettable, but outside of that Bortles has actually been a functional QB, for the most part, at home. And with the return of Leonard Fournette teams once again have to respect the run. Fournette's intangible impact on the Jaguars offense is real. Everyone around LF27 plays better and with more confidence when he's on the field. It's that simple.
Expect Blake Bortles to have a solid game against the Steelers. Whether or not the Jaguars can end their five game losing streak remains to be seen, but you should expect a nice statistical output from Blake Bortles in week 11.
