The Jaguars and Allen Hurns have agreed to a 4 year contract extension in excess of $10 million per year. A small price to pay for an elite number two receiver who has surpassed even the loftiest of expectations. Two years ago at this time Allen Hurns was an undrafted free agent that was just trying to make a football team. Fast foward to present day and he is a $10 million per year man, who has recorded 115 catches, 16 TDs, and over 1,700 yards receiving all in only two seasons in the league. Earlier this offseason Allen Hurns was named to the prestigious Top 100 Players in the NFL list and now he has been rewarded handsomely.
The Jaguars are lucky here -- really lucky. First of all the Jaguars got lucky enough to sign Allen Hurns as an undrafted free agent after he had the perhaps the most prolific career of any receiver in the "U's" (University of Miami) rich football history. Then he becomes an absolute stud receiver. Then he resigns with you for way less than he would have likely earned on the open market following the 2016 season. Perhaps Allen Hurns gave the hometown team a discount or perhaps being a former undrafted free agent made Hurns settle for a good, not great, contract extension. Either way the Jaguars have gotten extremely lucky as they now have Allen Hurns wrapped up for the foreseeable future. |
