Thanks to a minor miracle the Jaguars were able to overcome two Blake Bortles interceptions in the waning moments of regulation against the Chargers in week 10. Many improbable situations took place in order for the Jaguars to earn their sixth with of the season. Perhaps the most important was AJ Bouye's overtime interception. He was was one on one with speedster Travis Benjamin on a nine route when Bouye literally ripped the ball out of Benjamin's arms and proceeded to return the interception 51 yards down to the Chargers two yard line. It was a play that would set up the Jaguars game winning field goal.
For his efforts on Sunday Jaguars CB AJ Bouye has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week. He becomes the third Jaguar to win the award this year - a franchise record. He also becomes the third Jaguars CB to ever win the award. Only Jalen Ramsey and Rashean Mathis had done it before. This award is another feather in the cap for Bouye, who has exceeded all expectations since signing with the Jaguars this offseason. Bouye has three interceptions in 2017, tied for the team lead, and has been one of the best CBs in football this year. He's allowed a passer rating of just 36.8 to this point in the season. That's an impressive number on it's own but add in the fact that the QB rating of a passer that spikes the ball every play would be higher and it really paints a picture of just how good Bouye has been.
