Aaron Colvin, the Jaguars third year cornerback, will be suspended the first four games of the 2016 season. Colvin was expected to be the teams starting nickel corner. With such a prominent role expected for Colvin in 2016, the Jaguars recent signing of Prince Amukamara now makes a lot more sense. Here is what the Jags General Manager, Dave Caldwell, had to say about the situation:
This could impact the Jags selection at five in the upcoming NFL Draft, as Jalen Ramsey and Vernon Hargreaves III, two big time defensive backs from the state of Florida, will now look much more attractive to the Jags. Despite the loss in the defensive backfield and the obvious skill of Ramsey and Hargreaves, I do not think the Jaguars should let this change their minds about the draft. The Jags should draft Myles Jack, point blank, period. He is one of if not the most transcendent talent in this years draft and will be a huge upgrade in a position of need.
