Teams are not required, at this point, to provide any specifics about player injuries. But the Jaguars head coach was kind enough to share with us which players have been missing time due to injury. While he wouldn't go into specifics regarding the type of injury or severity Marrone did tell the media which players were out with injury at this time.
He mentioned five players, all of whom are expected to be - at the very least - contributors in 2018.
Tommy Bohanon, the team's starting fullback, is currently being held out of practices. He paved the way for the league's best rushing attack in 2017 and is expected to do the same in 2018.
Carson Tinker, the team's long time long snapper and special teams captain, is still recovering from an ACL injury suffered in training camp last season. Assuming he is able to make a full recovery he figures to be the team's long snapper again in 2018.
Dante Fowler, who recorded 10 sacks (including the playoffs) last season, is missing time with an undisclosed injury. Fowler figures to be the fifth man in the Jaguars defensive line rotation and is entering a contract season.
AJ Cann, the team's starting right guard, is also missing some time. Cann had an up and down 2017 season, and needs to be impressive in training camp to hold on to his starting job. Rookie Will Richardson will be his primary competition.
Dawuane Smoot is the final player missing time for the Jaguars. The second year defensive end proved to be a capable run defender and has the potential to become a starting caliber player in the NFL. The Jaguars defensive line is stacked with talent across the board, so I'm sure Smoot is eager to get back at it.
The Jaguars have also been without AJ Bouye and Jalen Ramsey, who have chosen not to attend these VOLUNTARY workouts.
