The Jaguars are hosting veteran wide receiver Victor Cruz.
The connection is obvious: Tom Coughlin, the Jaguars EVP of Football Operations, was the head coach of the Giants when they signed Victor Cruz as an undrafted free agent in 2010 and coached him for all but one of his seasons in the league. And it's easy to understand why Tom Coughlin would have interest in his former Pro Bowl receiver. They've won a Super Bowl together and have had sustained success at the highest level. However Coughlin has also seen the other side of the coin. Victor Cruz has a lengthy injury history and hasn't played a full season since 2013. In 2015 he missed the entire season, while in 2016 he played in all but one game. Cruz is no doubt a talented player, but on the wrong side of 30 with a lengthy injury history and a drop in production he doesn't seem like an ideal fit for a team that has at least three starting caliber receivers and perhaps a fourth in the newly drafted Dede Westbrook. We'll see if the Jaguars make a move on Cruz, but if they do it likely won't guarantee him a roster spot. He would likely be competing with Bryan Walters, Arrelious Benn, and Rashad Greene for the 5th receiver spot. Stay tuned for more Follow Jordan de Lugo on Twitter
