According to Adam Schefter the Jaguars will sign running back Chris Ivory when the league year begins.
Ivory had the most successful year of his career last year in New York. For the Jets in 2015 he averaged 4.3 yards a carry and finished the season with over 1,000 yards on the ground and 7 touchdowns. Ivory finished 5th in the league in rushing. Ivory, who is now 28, appears to be in his prime and brings a physical presence to the running back position that hasn't been seen in Duval in some time. It seems likely that he and second year running back T.J. Yeldon will now be in a timeshare at running back for the Jaguars, splitting the carries 50/50 for the next several seasons.
The deal is reportedly worth just over $30 million dollars over a 5 year period, which averages out to about $6 million per year. When you consider that the Jaguars will now dump Toby Gerhart's contract which is worth $3.5 million per year, it becomes clear that the Jaguars really aren't paying much for a running back who will bring a violent edge to the their rushing attack and a proven commodity in short yardage situations.
