Amukamara will immediately be competing for a starting job at cornerback while Bernadeau will provide depth along the interior offensive line.
Amukamara is a former first round pick in the 2011 draft and has improved each season in the league. He has struggled with injuries through out his career, but he shows the ability to play well in coverage against quality competition and will provide depth and consistency to a Jaguars cornerback unit that is lacking both. Amukamara has only recorded more than 1 interception in a season once in his career, but he does have at least 10 passes defended in each of the last three seasons. His size, 6 foot and 207 pounds, works in his favor and so does his age, 26. He will likely start opposite Davon House at cornerback in 2016. Mackenzy Bernadeau is much more of an unknown for the Jaguars. He is a decent pass blocker and below average run blocker. At 30 years old Bernadeau is a long time role player and will likely be the same in Jax. He stands 6'4'' and weighs over 320 pounds. He will certainly bring a physical presence to the Jaguars offensive guard room and can push the current starters while providing insurance if either Brandon Linder or A.J. Cann were to get hurt. Burnadeau has played for the Panthers and Cowboys in his eight year career.
The Jags also lost out on Robert Ayers who will sign with the Buccaneers.
